Claudio María Joly (c.1829-1897) was a French landowner. He served as a member of the first Municipal committee of the village of Moreno, Province of Buenos Aires.

Biography

Joly was born in Louhans (France), arrived at the port of Buenos Aires from Europe circa 1845. Established in Buenos Aires, Joly was owner of one of the most important libraries in the city. His business was located in the Victoria street, neighborhood of San Nicolas.

Claudio Joly was owner of vast hectares of land in Buenos Aires Province. He participated in the founding of the city of Moreno, and on January 3, 1863, he, had donated land for the construction of the Church of the town. He also was the founder of the Sociedad Francesa de Moreno (French Society of Moreno).
