The Civic Museum of Crema (Italian: Museo civico di Crema e del Cremasco) is an Italian museum, located in Crema.

Contents

It was founded in 1960 in what had been a 15th-century Augustinian cloister. There are sections for archeology, history and art.

Archeological section

It shows fossils and remains of animals like deer, bison and aurochs found in the area and dating back to the Paleolithic Era, but also items belonging to the Neolithic Era, to the Bronze and Iron ages, to the Roman and medieval period.

Historical section

It contains heirlooms of the Venetian and Asburgic domination or belonging to the risorgimental period, marked out by the presence in Crema of patriots like Enrico Martini or Vincenzo Tofetti, dating back to the First World War, characterized in Crema by personalities like Fortunato Marazzi or Umberto Fadini.

Artistic section

It shows art, especially paintings, by native painters including Giovanni Giacomo Barbelli, Giovanni Battista Lucini, Angelo Bacchetta, Luigi Manini, Camilla Marazzi, Carlo Martini, and also by other Italian and foreign artists: Palma il Giovane, Bronzino, Fra' Galgario, Karl Pavlovič Bryulov, Domenico Induno, Gaetano Previati, Aligi Sassu and Trento Longaretti.
