History
Citrin Cooperman was founded in 1979 by Joel Cooperman and Niles Citrin, when they were still in their 20s. In 2007-2008, two Philadelphia-area accounting firms joined Citrin Cooperman: Mandeloff Silver Ryan in November 2007 and Matarazzo, Goldis & Co. in Narberth, Pennsylvania, in November, 2008. In November 2010, the firms Wlodinguer, Erk & Chanzis and Rose, Dratch & Gilbert joined Citrin Cooperman. The WEC deal expanded the firm’s entertainment, media and sports practice while the RDG deal expanded their traditional accounting services. In July 2014, MGI Repetti joined Citrin Cooperman, adding 10 partners and 50 staff. With the combination, Citrin Cooperman became a 600- person accounting firm with $160 million in revenues. The technology consulting firm RCS, Real-Time Computer Services, joined Citrin Cooperman in June 2015. In August, 2015 the Bethesda, Maryland based accounting firm, Regardie, Brooks & Lewis joined Citrin Cooperman. The expectation is for annual revenue to reach $185 million as a result, with the addition of six new partners. In November, 2015, Joel Popkin & Company joined Citrin Cooperman. Joel Popkin & Company is a boutique accounting, tax and consulting firm with more than 45 years of experience in the restaurant, nightclub and event venues business. The agreement meant that approximately 25 new professionals joined Citrin Cooperman and that Citrin Cooperman became one of the largest accounting practices in restaurant and hospitality services in the United States.
In June, 2016 Capstone Wealth Management, LLC, joined with Citrin Cooperman Wealth Management, creating a new and independent Registered Investment Advisory company called Apexium Financial LP. Apexium will have offices in Manhattan and White Plains, NY; and Philadelphia, PA.
On August 1, 2016, Kirkland Albrecht & Fredrickson joined Citrin Cooperman, allowing Citrin Cooperman to enter into the Boston region market. The partnership is expected to raise Citrin’s annual revenues to $200 million. With the addition of KAF’s two offices in the Boston area the company will now have nine offices on the east coast.

The company is based in New York City and has offices in White Plains, NY; Livingston, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Norwalk, CT; Plainview, NY; Bethesda, MD; Braintree, MA; Woburn, MA; and Providence, RI. The company has international offices in India and the Cayman Islands.
Affiliations
Citrin Cooperman has a number of affiliations. Citrin Cooperman Wealth Management, LP (CCWM) offers clients independent personal financial planning and fee-based investment advisory services with a team of in-house experts. Citrin Cooperman is an independent member firm of Moore Stephens North America (MSNA), which is a regional member of Moore Stephens International Limited (MSIL). Working together, Citrin Cooperman puts clients in touch with MSNA accounts in the local market to assist them with their needs.
Apexium Financial LP is the affiliate company established from a joint venture between Capstone Wealth Management and Citrin Cooperman Wealth Management, LP in June 2016.
Management
Community involvement
In 2005, Citrin Cooperman started a college grant program which awards scholarships based on academic achievement and a desire to pursue a career in accounting or business. Each year they select several high school seniors who will receive $1000 a year for four years. In February, 2016 Citrin Cooperman, along with other companies, sponsored an awards event that recognized twenty outstanding family owned businesses in Westchester and Fairfield counties in New York. The company sponsored a $2,500 prize in the Tribeca Film Festival. The prize, which was for best actress in a Narrative Feature Film, was awarded to actress Hannah Murray who played Sara in Bridgend. Citrin Cooperman were co-sponsors with WestFair Communications of the annual Westchester County Doctors of Distinction ceremony on October 29, 2015. In April 2012, they donated 20 pieces of art to the Seabury Academy of Music and the Arts located in Norwalk. The artwork was collected over a period of 30 years by the firm from various locations around the world. In August 2011, Citrin Cooperman helped to raise $67,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as part of the charity auction sponsored by their client, Global Traveler Magazine.
