Primary school of Sts. Cyril and Methodius

In Slovakia children start primary education in the year in which they celebrate their 6th birthday. The primary education system is formally divided into two stages.

The first primary education stage - age 6 to 10, works as platform for next studies. Pupils learn to read, write and count, the basics of Homeland studies, English and enjoy Art, Music and PE lessons. We also have a youth club that you can go to after school.

The second primary education stage - age 10 to 15, this stage can be spent either at a primary school or at an 8-year grammar school

The second stage is characterized by many changes in the subjects as compared to the first stage.

Primary school offers to its students a swimming course, a skating course and a week stay at the School in nature and more. During the lessons students use modern technologies to improve their studying results.

Clubs at our school

In our school you can spend your free time better than at home. You can attend different and interesting clubs, where you can develop your own skills and study under the teacher's guidance also in the afternoon.

Our school provides these clubs: Floorball club, Biological club, Dance club, Sports club, Dodgeball, German club, Biblical club, English, Preparation for the school leaving exam and Testovanie 9, Mathematics club etc.

An eight-year study programme

Education is of higher quality because of faster intellectual growth of selected students, focus on extensive education of foreign languages and use of modern methods. The names of the classes are: príma, sekunda, tercia, kvarta, kvinta, sexta, septima, oktáva

príma - kvarta

New students have to pass entrance exams and then find new schoolmates in the class of príma. While studying under this study programme students don't have to sit for Testovanie 9 state exams at the age of 15, but students continue their studies on a higher secondary stage. You can spend 8 years together with your schoolmates.

kvinta - oktáva

There are subjects like Slovak language, English, a second foreign language (German or Russian), Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Civics, Religious studies, Maths, Informatics, Education through art and PE. At the end of class sexta students choose optional seminars. With these seminars you can continue for Maturita - the school leaving exams, which students take in oktáva. Four subjects are compulsory. You have to take Slovak language, you can choose English language, Russian language or German language (one foreign language is compulsory), and then Geography, Biology, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, History etc. But you can choose more subjects than four. Maturita has 2 parts: a written part and an oral part.

You can participate in different school trips, events, excursions, school games, athletics competitions etc. The school events, which are organised every year, include: The way of the Cross at local Calvary, a hike to Sninsky kameň and Kremenec, European Day of Languages, District run, The World Food Day, The day of st.
