Christoph Lanz (born in 1959) is the Managing Director Multimedia Global of “Deutsche Welle” (DW), the German foreign broadcasting service. After his apprenticeship he started his career as journalist at “Südwestfunk” as reporter and editor in Baden-Baden.

Career
In 1984 he went to New York City, where he was working for ARD and RTL as freelance radio correspondent. Afterwards from 1985 to 1989 he joined RIAS2, a radio-station in West Berlin, first as managing editor, then as deputy program director. In 1989 he changed from the station to the commercial Radio FFH in Frankfurt where he was active as deputy program director and editor-in-chief. In this time Radio FFH took over as market leader in Hesse radio market. After the peaceful revolution in 1989 he became editor-in-chief at DW-Television. He had influenced the early years of international television in Germany very much. In 1998 he was responsible for the re launch of DW-Television to a news, information and culture channel. 2002 he was appointed Managing Director Television of Deutsche Welle. Moreover, he is lecturer at several universities.
