Christian Schweichler (born 16 September 1978) is a former german goalkeeper and current goalkeeper coach.

CV

Christian Schweichler was recently in charge of clubs and national teams in Africa and Asia. He studied sports science at the highly esteemed German Sport University Cologne and holds goalkeeper coach qualifications of German Football Association (DFB) and Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). He has extensive international coaching experience and coached goalkeeper of clubs and teams associated to Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Al-Merreikh SC

In 2009/2010 Christian Schweichler was appointed as goalkeeper coach of Sudanese top club Al-Merreikh SC. He accompanied coach Michael Krüger, who joined the club in 2008. He was in charge of the goalkeeper during the CAF Champions League and Sudan Premier League competitions. In 2010, he achieved the Sudan Cup after winning the final against archrival Al-Hilal Club. Michael Krüger and Christian Schweichler also led the team to qualify again for the CAF Champions League.

Lebanon

In 2012 Christian Schweichler signed a contract as goalkeeper coach of Lebanon national team, recommended by national team manager Theo Bücker. He coached the goalkeeper of the team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification. The goalkeeper, chosen and coached by Schweichler, impressed by outstanding performances with Ziad Al-Samad honoured as man of the match against Qatar and Abbas Hassan honoured as man of the match against Iran, which forced Iran coach Carlos Queiroz to quote "I think a national hero was born today. For me the score was Abbas Hassan 1 Iran 0." By reaching the fourth and final AFC qualification round, the national team achieved the biggest success in Lebanese football history. Among his activity as national team goalkeeper coach he was acting as goalkeeper coach instructor of the Lebanese Football Association.

Al-Ettifaq FC

In 2013 Saudi Professional League club Ettifaq FC engaged Christian Schweichler as new goalkeeper coach. After dismissal of coach Theo Bücker he left the club ahead of time.

Bangladesh

In 2015 Christian Schweichler joined Bangladesh Football Federation upon request on a short-term base. He was recommended by Bangladesh national football team coach Lodewijk de Kruif due to his goalkeeper coaching experience in Asia. He fulfilled his task of analysing the level of goalkeeping in Bangladesh by submitting a report to Bangladesh Football Federation including options of goalkeeping development and improvement in the country. Kazi Salahuddin, the president of Bangladesh Football Federation and South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), could win Schweichler to take over the position as goalkeeper coach of Bangladesh Football Federation, holding wide-ranging powers. He was responsible for scouting, selecting and coaching all goalkeeper of the Bangladesh national football team as well as U23, U19 and U16 national team. Furthermore he was in charge of goalkeeping at Bangladesh´s top club Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. Under his guidance, the level of goalkeeping improved significantly. The goalkeeper, selected and coached by Schweichler, played a major role in various tournaments and achievements. The U16 national team won the SAFF U-16 Championship, the U19 national team reached the semi-final of the SAFF U-19 Championship and national team goalkeeper Shahidul Yousuf Sohel thanked Schweichler for his excellent training and coaching which helped him to win the Bangladesh Premier League title and to perform well in AFC Cup and international matches.

In 2016 Bangladesh Football Federation tried to reappoint Christian Schweichler but he rejected the offer due to personal reasons.
