Mark Christian Daniel Moody (born December 28, 1983 in Washington, DC) is an American former professional basketball player, who last played with Australia's Lakeside Lightning. He was also a four-year letter winner for the University of Kansas Men's basketball team from 2002 to 2006. He was also member of the Athletes in Action USA team that won the Gold Medal in the 2006 William Jones Cup, Taipei, Taiwan. Moody got his bachelor's degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas.

High school career

Growing up, Moody had always loved the Kansas Jayhawks. He committed to play for Roy Williams and the University of Kansas as a recruited walk on at the start of his senior year of high school, 2001. He played for the T.C. Roberson Rams in high school and was coached by Head Coach Rich Sizemore and led the Rams to a 3A North Carolina Regional Final his senior year. That year he was runner up for Mr. Basketball of North Carolina.

College career

At Kansas, Moody received Academic All Big 12 honors his sophomore, junior and senior years. He played for Coach Roy Williams from 2002-2003 and Coach Bill Self from 2003-2006. Moody was recruited by Coach Williams as a walk-on. Moody earned his way into the starting five for the Kansas Jayhawks during his junior year and earned a scholarship during his final year at the University of Kansas. He was named "the greatest walk-on in the history of college basketball" by CBS analyst Billy Packer. His college career ended when Kansas was defeated by 14th-seeded Bradley in the first round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. While at Kansas he won three Big 12 Championships and earned four NCAA Tournament berths including a Final Four appearances (one national runner-up finish) and one Elite 8 finish.

Professional career

Moody won a gold medal in the 2006 William Jones Cup for the Athletes in Action. The following year, he played in Amsterdam, Netherlands, for BCI Edge under coach Sharm Sheurman. Moody then signed with the Lakeside Lightning in Perth, Australia in 2007 and played there for one season. That year he averaged 24.6 points and 14.4 rebounds.

Moody graduated in 2013 with a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and is currently an orthopedic surgery intern.

Personal

Moody married his wife, Nicole, on May 26, 2007. They have two sons.
