The trains equipped with special devices to monitor the condition of the track, wheel-rail force, Catenary, Pantograph, communication system and signal system, sometimes the trains are used for speed test.
Basically the built of these trainsets are based on their original commercial designs, like the CIT001 (based on CRH5) and CIT400A (based on CRH380A), the CIT380A trainset was converted from the prototype of CRH380A (CRH2-150C), while some of the trainset was re-equipping of commercial trains, which are not designated as CIT trains by names with normal series numbers instead.
CRH5J-0501
CRH5J-0501 (Origin name CIT001) is an 8-car trainset based on CRH5 design, service as 250 km/h test train.
The CIT001 was ordered by China Academy of Railway Sciences On April 2, 2007, and was co-designed by CARS and CNR. the official name is Code Zero Comprehensive Inspection Train. The train is painted with yellow and white color and started test run on July 1, 2007. came into service on June 6, 2008.

CRH2A-2010
CRH2A-2010 (formerly CRH2-010A) is the first ever high-speed test train of China; it is also the first CRH2 trainset manufactured by CSR Sifang; the trainset rolled off the line on July 31, 2006. In March 2007 it was converted to be 250 km/h test train. The train is equipped with ATP, the signal parameters, the wireless field, pantograph and catenary, track geometry, dynamics and acceleration detecting devices and circuit-monitoring system.

CRH2C-2061
CRH2C-2061 (formerly CRH2-061C) is the first 300 km/h High Speed trainset manufactured by CSR Sifang, the trainset rolled-off line on December 22, 2007. and was named CRH2-300, as the prototype of CRH2C. During the test on April 22, 2008, CRH2-061C reached a top speed of over 370 km/h (230 mph) on Beijing-Tianjin high-speed rail. During the test on December 11, 2009, CRH2-061C reached a top speed of 394.2 km/h (245 mph) on Zhengzhou-Xi'a high-speed rail.
CRH2-061C now service as 350 km/h inspection train, equipped with track inspection, Catenaries examination and signal inspection devices.
CRH2C-2068
CRH2C-2068 (formerly CRH2-068C) is also a 350 km/h inspection train, equipped with track inspection, Dynamics performance monitor and Pantograph/Catenary inspection devices.
CRH2C-2150
CRH2C-2150 (formerly CIT380A) is a 350 km/h High speed comprehensive inspection train, it is converted from The prototype vehicle of CRH380A, the original train, CRH2-150C was rolled off on April, 2010, the eight-car train was midofied to a CIT train after series of test for the design of CRH380A, and delivered on November, 2010.

CRH380AJ-0201/0202/0203/0206
The CRH400A-001 (initially CIT400A) is the first ever 380 km/h CIT train of China, based on the CRH380A design, the 8-car trainset is manufactured by CSR Sifang factory, rolled-off line by February 22, 2011. formation 7M1T, designed top testing speed 500 km/h.
the develop starts from June 2010 and the project is named CIT400A, on February 23, 2011, the CRH400A-001 arrives at CARS, after a series of modify and rectify, the Trainset is set to enter service at March 3, the trainset will do a lot of inspection work at the Jinghu HSR.
CRH380BJ-0301
The CRH380BJ-0301 (initially CIT400B) is a 380 km/h CIT train, Co-manufactured by CNR Tangshan factory and CNR Changchun factory, the design is based on CNR's CRH380CL trainset, formation 6M2T, designed top speed 500 km/h, and top operating speed 400 km/h.
Formation
CRH380AM-0204
On December 7, 2010, During the 7th World High-speed Rail Conference held in Beijing, Officer from the CSR Group Confirmed that China will launch High Speed test in 2011 and will try to break the current speed record - 574.8 km/h achieved by French trainset V150, which confirmed CSR was developing the CIT500 (renamed CRH380AM) trainset.
On December 22, 2011, the train, officially named Higher Speed Experimental Train, rolled off of production lines. It is scheduled to enter testing in the near future. The train set is composed of 6 motored cars with a power output of 22,800 kW, which results in an extremely high power to weight ratio.
CRH2J-0205
CRH2J-0205 is an modified CRH2E. Converted from CRH2-139E. The trainset is painted in an orange livery and is used for inspection work.
