As of 2001 India census, Chhawla had a population of 9047. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Chhawla has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 83% and female literacy of 68%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. Chhawla village is a big Jat dominated village. It is the biggest village of Delhi and second richest after Asola-Fethpur Beri the twin village.
