Background
The intensity of this rivalry is so intense that has its past political reasons also. The two teams CSK and RCB are from the neighboring South Indian states Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. One of the reasons of the political tensions between these two states lies in the dispute in sharing the river Kaveri's water resources which escalates and pervades into all aspects of lives of the people of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This is why the rivalry is often termed as the "Kaveri Derby". The first time these two teams met in IPL was on 28 April 2008 where CSK won by 13 runs. The rivalry is also termed as the South Indian Derby.
