History
This has been widely used in India, Persia, Greek and Arabian countries since the 2nd century.
Paracelsus, Claudius, Hermes, Trismegistis and Basin Valentine are the scientists in the west were researched and using these in Ancient era. Paracelsus wrote a book "The Chemical path way", Claudius wrote a book "The Hermetic and Alchemical figures " Basin Valentine wrote a Book "Triumphant chariot of Antimony" in this book he explains about Chendooram.
In India Saint Bogar, Agithiyar, Kongannar were doing Alchemy and giving that medicine as Chendooram format and have solved many diseases.
MODERN ERA
Nowadays in Allopathy medical system we could see medicinal combinations like "Red oxide of Iron", " Red oxide of Mercury " etc., these Chemical composition were taken from Chendooram.
Formation
Mercury is used in the form of rasa chendooram (red oxide of mercury). Qualitative identification of phytochemical constituents, metallic quantification and in terms of pharmacognostical standardization. Chendooram is the finest particle of Basanam(Metals). It can be from Rasam(Mercury), Gandagam(Sulphur), Veeram(Bi choloride of mercury), Pooram(Per chloride of mercury),Lingam(chinnabar) Manochelai, thirusu(copper sulphate), Thutiam, etc., These are normally poisions but by removing toxins in these metal these could be used for medicines.
