Chaudhary Babulal (Hindi: Hindi: चौधरी बाबूलाल) is an Indian politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling political party of Government of India. He is one of prominent Jat leader of western UP since more than three decades. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament (M.P.) from Fatehpur Sikri (Agra, Uttar Pradesh) constituency for 16th Lok Sabha, 2014.

Personal life

He was born in a farmer family on July 2, 1948, at village Panwari, Achhnera block of district Agra. His father’s name is Late Shri Raghunath Singh and mother’s name as Late Smt. Kiran Devi. He earned his education till Intermediate from Raja Balwant Singh College, Agra. He is married to Smt. Mahaviri Devi. They are parents of 5 sons. Eldest being Rameshwar Chaudhary and one daughter. The family has seven grandsons Eldest Grandson being Agraj Chaudhary and three granddaughters. His eldest son Rameshwar Chaudhary has contested twice for Lok Sabha election. 1st time from Agra constituency in 1998. And 2nd time from Mathura Constituency In 1999. And Stood At the second place with 1.90 laskh votes and 2 lakh votes respectively. One of his sons, Krishna Kumar Singh, is serving as Civil Judge (Senior Division) along with his wife Chanchal Singh, who is also a Judge, at Bijnor (High Court of Judicature at Allahabad). Other sons are Rakesh, Pawan and Suresh, who take care the family business of Cold Storage and agriculture of ancestral property.

Political career

He is most influenced since his childhood with Choudhary Charan Singh, 5th Prime Minister of India and famous Jat leader from western UP. In his young age, he successfully contested the elections of “Block Pramukh” and “Zila Panchayat Sadasya” under the umbrella of “Panchayat General Election” of Uttar Pradesh Government. He was elected twice for Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly (13th Legislative Assembly, 1996-2002 and then 14th Legislative Assembly, 2002-2007) as MLA from Fatehpur Sikri constituency. He has served as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Kumari Mayawati (2002–03) and then in the Government of Mulayam Singh Yadav (2003-2007). As a minister, he was handling with the Ministry of Food Processing, Pension, “Rashtriya Bhasha” and “Maddah Nishedh” etc. Presently, he is Member of two important Parliamentary committees, established by Parliament and Government of India including Committee on Defence and Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution.
