Charles Segars (born April 15, 1963) is an American media executive and a native of Pittsburgh. He is CEO of Ovation (U.S. TV channel). He is known for work as an Executive Producer on the National Treasure (franchise). Segars has had an extensive career in the media industry, working as a Digital Adviser to DreamWorks Animation to develop new content creation and distribution media projects. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America, Producers Guild, and INSA.

Early life

Charles Segars has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and completed a graduate certificate in International Security and Policy at Stanford University in 2011.

Business career

Segars was a senior executive at DreamWorks Television and was Vice President of Primetime Specials and Late Night Programming at CBS Entertainment. He has held a number of other senior executive positions including Vice President of Program Development at Viacom Productions and Executive Producer of Program Development at MovieTime/E! Entertainment Television. His accomplishments have spanned a variety of ventures including new media content startups, cable and satellite networks, branded entertainment, and he is also the co-creator of Disney's National Treasure motion picture franchise. Most recently, Segars served at DreamWorks Animation as a digital advisor to senior management and works on all aspects of DWA's diversification into new media including content creation, distribution, and monetization through Over The Top (OTT) and Multichannel Video Programming Distributors (MVPD) platforms. Segars launched the new YouTube/DreamWorks venture YouTube Nation and advises on other YouTube initiatives including Awesomeness TV. Concurrently, Segars is also a member of the Board of Directors for Ovation TV and Ovation New Media, as well as its acting Chief Executive Officer. He is founder of Segars Media, a content production company best known for Disney's National Treasure, National Treasure: The Book of Secrets, and the soon-to-be-released, National Treasure 3. He co-created and wrote the story for the franchise and serves as its Executive Producer.

Political, civic security and academic activities

Charles Segars is a former White House Associate having lead the Advance Team for The Office of the President of the United States. Segars is a sworn Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy and serves in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Emergency Operations Bureau/Dignitary Protection Unit. Additionally, Segars is co-founder of OPSEC Alliance Partners, where he advises companies in matters of security, crisis management, and global logistics. He is an active member of the WGA, Producers Guild, and is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon for its Masters of Entertainment Industry Management Program. He is also a Board of Trustees Member of Ford's Theatre and American Ballet Theatre
