Charles Alling Gifford was an American architect and a partner at the New York firm Gifford & Bates. Gifford was born in New Jersey and studied at the Stevens Institute of Technology, which focuses on mechanical engineering.

His most well-known work is the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, designed for Joseph Stickney. The 1902 Gilded Age hotel is a National Historic Landmark.

Additionally, a few structures in the Jekyll Island National Historic Landmark District were designed by Gifford, including the Sans Souci Apartments (1896), Mistletoe Cottage (1900), and Jekyll Island Clubhouse Annex (1901).

  • 146 East 56th Street, New York, New York, 1905. Constructed as a private stable for Edwin Gould, in a neo-Georgian style.
  • Brunswick Courthouse or "Old Glynn County Courthouse", Glynn County, Georgia. The courthouse cornerstone was laid on December 27, 1906 and construction was completed on December 18, 1907 at a total cost of $97,613. Restoration work began in the early 1990s.
