Chandausi is a city and a municipal board in Sambhal district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The original name of the city was "Chaand Si", meaning "moon-like" (in Indian poetry the moon is considered to be beautiful). It has an average elevation of 284 metres (603 feet). It is 187.5 km from New Delhi.

Demographics
As per provisional data of 2011 census, Chandausi had a population of 1,14,254 out of which males were 60,238 and females were 54,016. The literacy rate was 72.63 percent.

Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI) at Chandausi, Moradabad UP is the oldest (and North India's only) Railway Training Institute, where group C railway employees like Driver, Guard, Ticket Checker, Station Master, Traffic Inspector, Commercial Inspector, JE (signal & Telecom) etc. are trained for initial, promotional and refresher courses. ZRTI is an ISO 9001 Institute. Applicants pass All India Railway Examinations to get admission into the institute. ZRTI is headed by a senior Civil Services Officer.[3]
Climate
The climate of the area is similar to that of the Indo-Gangatic plain, with hot dry summers and cold winters and an average of 35 inches of rainfall.
Temples/Mosque
Bade Hanuman ji mandir is one of the oldest temples of the city. It is situated at Hanumanghari near Sita Ashram playground. It is the temple of Hanuman ji and is 400 years old. A huge crowd worships in this temple every Tuesday and Saturday as these days are the days of Lord Hanuman. The temple has idols of Shri Ram parivar, Shri krishna Parivar, Shiv Parivar, Goddess Durga, Lord Bhero ji, Lord Sai Baba etc. It is situated on a small hill (Teela) and has a cave under the Hanuman ji statue. This cave runs through a large area of the city. Badi Masjid is one of the oldest Mosque of the city. It is situated at FR inter collage near Fountain Chowk. There are many Mosque in city i.e. Lal Masjid, Jama Masjid, Sheikhoin wali Masjid, Qadri Nosahi Masjid, Noori Masjid, Tehseel Wali Masjid, Moti Masjid, Kacheri Wali Masjid, ghass mandi wali Masjid, Patti Wali Masjid, Qabarstan wali Masjid, Raaz Mehelle Wali Masjid(chhoti and badi), Zam Zam Masjid, Sambhal Gate Eid-Gah, Khurja Gate Wali Eid-Gah.
