Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Chandameta-Butaria had a population of 16,937. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chandameta-Butaria has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 77% and female literacy of 64%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The social characteristics bear good relations between people of Hindus, Muslims and Christians. This was because the organizational culture was fostered by Western Coal Fields Limited which was served by people from many parts of the country who settled here, forming a mixed culture. One of the famous schools of the area, the Flower Vale school, is situated here. This town very beautiful; it is situated around the hills. Biggest school is Govt. H. Sec. school.

Places to visit here: Chandshah vali tekri (named after Chadnsha Vali shrine), has an old Shiva temple along with some other temples too, is a picturesque place and is a symbol of communal harmonic culture in the region. This hill can be seen from most of the parts of the town and point out the temple and Shrine at the same place, showcasing of bounded believes of Hindus and Muslim community. Sinh Vahini Durga mandir is to visit where most of the local people goes for daily worships no matter how far their home is from it. There are some very famous places in this town like Dadaji Samadhi Temple, Kherapati mandir, Singhvahini mandir, Chandshah vali- Chandramoulishwar mandir, and Pankaj Stadium. This town is very well known for its political sense and spiritual personalities. Late Shree Hiraman Tiwari "Dadaji" was born here. He was a great spiritual person. The founder of Dada Parivar. These days Shree Dinesh Dada is taking responsibility of Dada Parivar. Late Shree Baldev Prasad Sharma, late Shree Shivbaran Singh Parmar, late Shree Damodar Patil, late Shree Shyamlal Valmiki like great leaders were from this small town.
