Personal life

Cruz was born on May 11, 1988. She studied in the St. Louis College of Valenzuela high school from 2003-2006 and completed her Bachelor's in Psychology at De La Salle University and as of 2012 was pursuing her Master's degree in Special Education. She is the older sister of volleyball players Camille Cruz and Cienne Cruz.
Career

Cruz is known for her versatility in playing the sport of volleyball. Over the years of playing volleyball, she has played every position except libero and has embraced the 7th man role for the Lady Spikers. According to Cruz: "Kung sino yung nagkamali, or sino yung medyo off sa game, I’ll replace them. So even setter, even center spiker, utility or open spiker I played." This all-around athleticism has earned her the moniker "Miss Everything" of the country's volleyball sport.

Cruz started to play the sport of volleyball in her 6th Grade but abruptly took a break in the following years. In her senior year in high school, she picked it up again before being recruited by Ramil De Jesus for the De La Salle University Lady Spikers from 2005 to 2012.

Her first three years in the UAAP was a shaky journey. Midway during her rookie year (Season 68, 2005), while doing the setting job for the team, she sustained a stress fracture in her left ankle which forced her to sit out the remaining games of the season. In the following season (Season 69, 2006), all La Salle teams were suspended from the UAAP as a consequence of its men's basketball team's violation on a UAAP rule. While in Season 70 (2007), Cruz did not suit up for failure to meet the academic requirements to play.

In Season 71, after a two-year hiatus, Cruz was back inside the court this time playing the Open Spiker and Middle Blocker positions. The Lady Spikers only dropped two matches and thereafter winning the title over the Far Eastern Lady Tamaraws. However, in the following season (Season 72, 2009), the Lady Spikers were detroned by the University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigers and finished as runner up.

On her last two seasons, Cruz took another role when she was called to lead the Lady Spikers as its Team Captain for Seasons 73 (2010) and 74 (2011). On both seasons, the Lady Spikers won the championship trophies after reclaiming the title over the UST Lady Tigers in Season 73 and the Ateneo Lady Eagles in Season 74, with Cruz named Finals Most Valuable Player in both seasons. Eventually, the said back-to-back wins turned to a 3-peat the next season.

After exhausting her UAAP playing years, Cruz bid farewell to the sport and instead focused on her graduate studies at De La Salle University and her teaching job.

But, after a two-year hiatus, she made a comeback via the now defunct Philippine Super Liga team AirAsia Flying Spikers, reuniting with coach Ramil De Jesus and other Lady Spikers. As of posting, Cruz is playing and the Team Captain of F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, also in the PSL.
