Cepola schlegelii is a species of bandfish in the family Cepolidae. It is occurs in the Pacific coastal waters of East Asia from central Honshu south to Taiwan. In addition, it has been reported from a location on an Indian Ocean coast of Indonesia. It is found on muddy ocean bottoms in deep water, up to 100 metres (330 ft) below the surface. It lives in small loose groups, that gather together in the waters above their muddy burrows to catch plankton to eat. The maximum length recorded for this species is 50 centimetres (20 in).
