Cathal Barrett is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Holycross-Ballycahill and with the Tipperary senior inter-county team since 2014.

Career

He played in the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship for Tipperary in 2010 and 2011 and played in the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship in 2012, 2013 & 2014

He was named in the Tipperary squad for the 2014 National Hurling League and made his league debut on 15 February against Waterford.

Barrett made his championship debut for Tipperary on 1 June 2014 in the Munster Championship against Limerick, starting at right corner back in a 2-18 to 2-16 defeat.

In October 2014, Barrett was named as the All Stars Young Hurler of the Year for 2014.
On 4 September 2016, Barrett won his first All-Ireland Senior hurling title when Tipperary defeated Kilkenny in the final by 2-29 to 2-20.
On 30 May 2017, it emerged that Barrett had been dropped from the Tipperary senior hurling panel for an internal issue. He is due to be out of action for up to eight weeks with ligament damage suffered in the defeat to Cork in the Munster Quarter final on 21 May 2017.
