The cover features a picture of the fashion model Anne Dos Santos holding Tim Scott’s custom sparkly pink Jackson signature guitar shot by the photographer Bernie Cavanagh.

This single was recorded, mixed and produced by Tim Scott at Acer Studios, Greater Manchester, mastered on 16 December 2010 by Geoff Pesche in Suite 5 at Abbey Road Studios, London.

Critical reception

Sarah Walters of CityLife gave the song a positive review stating:

YOU need three things to appreciate Tim Scott's brand of guitar-mashing properly: sunshine, a sandy beach and a pina colada. Built over banging house vibes that switch between a party in Ibiza and the soundtrack to a computer console racing game, Cataclysmic Pink is an astute meeting of worlds - a sonic car crash you might expect to end in tears, but one Scott's utterly exotic style of guitar playing manages to meld incredibly satisfyingly.
