Products
The principal product of Cataclean Global is called Cataclean, which was first developed in 1995. Cataclean is a fuel system cleaner for diesel, petrol and hybrid engines.
Original
Cataclean Original is designed to reduce carbon emissions, improve fuel efficiency and vehicle performance. It was renamed Cataclean Liquid Science in 2014.
It is mainly aimed at the used car market. The catalytic converters of such vehicles can require cleaning because of a build up of deposits in a catalytic converter which reduces engine power and efficiency. This leads to problems including warning lights coming on, fuel consumption declining, the engine being sluggish, excessive smoke/odour coming from the exhaust, and increased carbon emissions. The UK Ministry of Transport (MOT) test requires that all vehicles pass an emissions test. An estimated one million vehicles a year fail their MOT because of high emissions. Cleaning products such as Cataclean Original can be poured into the fuel tank and contain compounds that break down and remove deposits in the catalytic converter and other parts of the fuel systems such as the valves and injectors.
DPF
Cataclean DPF is designed to prevent Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) breaking down. Under EU law DPFs are now fitted to all new vehicles which run on diesel. DPFs sometimes experience problems when used on short, stop-start journeys in urban areas causing vehicles to enter limp mode. DPFs are meant to clean themselves on a long journey or motorway drive, but if they spend too much time in a congested area they become clogged and can break down. From February 2014 the UK Government announced cars which have had their DPF removed will fail their MOT, or annual test for heavy vehicles. Cleaning products such as Cataclean DPF protect DPFs by reducing soot emissions, assisting the DPF to regenerate and reducing risk of it becoming clogged.
One Shot Bike
Cataclean launched its ‘One Shot’ Bike product in January 2015. It had been tested ahead of its launch at Motrac Racing in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
Overseas and Export
Cataclean has patents for its products overseas. The company supplies its export product through distributors to a number of countries including Bulgaria with Sofia-based KAS Trade Ltd, in Greece with Athens-based K Angelopoulos & Co, in Nigeria through Cataclean Global Nigeria, in Australia through Cataclean Australia. Cataclean Export is sold and manufactured in the United States under license through Ohio based Accel Performance.
