Cartridge world franchising opportunity

Company overview

Cartridge World uses a franchise model to license stores specialising in ink and toner cartridges, printers, and related products and services. The stores also lease printers, offer printer servicing, and sell other office supplies. There are more than 1,400 Cartridge World stores globally.

The website refers to national headquarters offices in Hong Kong; Adelaide, Australia; Harrogate, England; Spring Grove, Illinois, United States; and Paris, France.

The company was founded in 1992 by Bryan Stokes, as the "Australian Cartridge Company" in Adelaide, and changed the name to Cartridge World in 1999. The first store was enfranchised in 1997, and in 2007, private equity fund Wolseley Private Equity purchased the business.

Since 2009 the UK network has collapsed from nearly 300 stores to just over 100. Of the new franchises opened since 2009 very few have been successful, most have closed down having been unable to build a customer base. others have left the brand and gone independent ( Yarmouth, Headingley, Dagenham, urmston, pudsey and others)

In 2013 Cartridge world in the UK closed its warehouse and subcontracted supply after asking suppliers to extend credit terms for supplies already delivered. At the same time a number of redundancies were made and the head office moved from Harrogate to smaller offices.

In June 2015, Cartridge World was acquired by Suzhou Goldengreen Technologies Ltd. Steve Weedon has been appointed as Global Chief Executive Officer of Cartridge World and CEO of Cartridge World North America. Edwin Lui, previously General Manager Cartridge World Asia and Middle East, has been appointed Global Chief Financial Officer.

In June 2016, Cartridge World Global CEO, Steve Weedon, announced a strategic partnership with Samsung to offer mobile print and scanning services worldwide.
