During 2007, in common with all of her Fantasy-class sisters, she had the prefix Carnival added to her name.

The third ship to be built in the Fantasy class, Carnival Sensation returned to active cruise service on February 12, 2009, after an extensive drydocking and refit. During the refit, 98 private balconies were added to former ocean view rooms. An adults only sunning area, called Serenity, was added to the Promenade Deck, aft. A children's water park area was installed on the Verandah Deck, aft, in an area formerly used as a pool and sunning area. The Carnival Sensation's main pool area on the Lido Deck, midship, was renovated, and the water slide was removed. Other renovations included new carpeting in public spaces and in her main dining rooms, and the addition of a 4-story tall "Carnival Waterworks" waterslide at the aft of the ship.
In early 2016, the Carnival Sensation moved to Miami, replacing the Carnival Victory, doing 4 and 5 night cruises. The Carnival Victory took over the 3 and 4 night cruises to Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas, in the Bahamas.

Evolutions of Fun upgrade

The Carnival Sensation recently became the fourth ship to undergo extensive refurbishments, which added a 9-hole mini golf course, a children's water park area with waterslides and splash park, and a "serenity" adult-only deck.
