Carnival Pride is a Spirit-class cruise ship. Like the majority of her sisters, she is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc and operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Kværner Masa-Yards at its Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki, Finland, she was delivered to Carnival on December 12, 2001, and christened by American scientist and astronaut Tamara Jernigan in Port Canaveral, Florida, on January 7, 2002.

The Pride began sailing from Port Canaveral, FL in January 2002 to Eastern and Western Caribbean ports. Then, from 2002 to March 2009, the Carnival Pride sailed year-round cruises from Long Beach, California to the Mexican Riviera. The Carnival Miracle has since replaced her on those voyages.

On March 22, 2009, she sailed a Panama Canal voyage ending in Miami, Florida, and sailed Caribbean cruises out of that port until April 2009.

Since April 2009, Carnival Pride was the first ship to sail year-round Bahamas/Caribbean cruises out of Baltimore, Maryland. As of 2017, she is based out of that port.

From Baltimore, she also sailed a two-day cruise to nowhere without making any port of call. This cruise was from November 2 to 4, 2012, as a result of canceling an October departure due to closed port traffic after Hurricane Sandy.

Proceeding the Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades received by Carnival Pride in October 2014, it sailed out of Tampa until it returned to Baltimore in March 2015.

After the new 2.0 upgrades Carnival has changed the voyages of Carnival Pride, all of which embark in Baltimore. The ship's five-day sailings now go to Bermuda, such include 2 days at King's Wharf and 2 days at sea. Six-day Bahamas sailings include stops at Nassau and Freeport with 3 days at sea, the seven-day version of which in addition includes a stop at Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship also will have a 7-day cruise which includes stops at Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay (Carnival's private island in the Bahamas), and Freeport. Carnival is also including a new 8 day sailing to the Bahamas which includes stops in Charleston, SC, Port Canaveral, and Nassau.

As part of a new strategy by Carnival to include longer cruise, new extended cruises will be included in the Carnival Pride 's schedule which are branded as Carnival Journeys, two of which have been announced so far. One of which is an 11-day voyage departing from Baltimore on January 17, 2016, calling at Grand Turk, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, and St. Croix, ending in San Juan on January 28, 2016. The second is a 14-day voyage going roundtrip from Baltimore March 13–27, 2016, and featuring Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique, Antigua and St. Marten as ports of call.

Entertainment and activities

The ship features a dance club (Beauties), an adult-only pool (Serenity), a retracting roof pool, a 72-foot-long waterslide, three play areas for kids, and two performance venues - the Taj Mahal Theater (decks 2, 3, and 4 forward) and the Butterflies Lounge housing the Punchliner Comedy Club (deck 1 forward), as well as shops, an art gallery, live music, a video arcade, and a casino.

In October 2014 Carnival Pride entered dry dock for scrubber installation and Fun Ship 2.0 upgrades. These upgrades included Guy’s Burger Joint; BlueIguana Cantina and BlueIguana Tequila Bar; Bonsai Sushi; EA Sports Bar; Hasbro The Game Show, and WaterWorks, a water slide and spray park. On October 9, 2014, It was announced that the Carnival Pride will be the only Spirit class cruise ship that will include Carnival's Seaside Theater. It was installed behind the main stage on the lido deck.

Dining

Dining options include signature dining in David's Steakhouse for an additional charge of $35/per person (this venue also has seafood and is located on deck ten), restaurant dining in the Normandie restaurant (located on Deck 2 and 3 of the ship), Japanese restaurant Bonsai Sushi (additional charge/item), a coffee bar, a chef's table, and casual dining in the Mermaid's Grill located on the Lido Deck (Deck 9). Room service is available 24-hours/day.

Accidents and incidents

On May 8, 2016, the Carnival Pride collided into the pier in Baltimore, causing a terminal gangway to collapse and crush 3 cars. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
