Childhood

Born and raised in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England, Johnson went to school at Eastborough J,I & N School before moving to Healey primary School, Batley. She then studied at Howden Clough girls' high school and sixth form centre, situated in Birstall, before moving onto her second high school which was Spen Valley Sports College in Liversedge. Johnson left home at 16 and moved to Shropshire where she began her new life. She currently resides in Oswestry, Shropshire.

Life and career

Johnson started her photography career in 2011 at the age of 17, working freelance covering mainly events and nature photography. This soon changed when she started posting her self-portraits online. This is when she quickly changed to shooting more portrait work. Johnson is also a press photographer.

One year on from starting her photography journey, she was chosen from a number of Princes Trust-Supported photographers across the UK by Rankin to work with him on the advertising creative for The Prince's Trust national Tomorrow Campaign.

In May 2012, Johnson travelled to London to meet with PM David Cameron and Lord Young live on Sky News to speak about unemployment in young people through The Prince's Trust. Microsoft search engine Bing was her next stop where her work made it onto the homepage of the website.

Johnson's work was then exhibited in the houses of Parliament throughout the end of 2012.

Johnson currently appears on Glamour magazines 'One to Watch 2014' list.

2014 saw Care Johnson win 'The Good Samaritan Award' at The Youth 4 Excellence Awards Ceremony held in Birmingham in September.

She was invited to Click The Photography Show as a lecturer to hold a "Turning Pro" masterclass. Click named Johnson "One of Britain's most inspirational speakers in the world of photography and business start-ups".
