Callum Tapping (born 5 June 1993) is a Scottish professional footballer, who currently plays for Queen of the South as a midfielder. Tapping has previously played for Hearts, Alloa Athletic and Brechin City.

Born in London to an English father and a Scottish mother, Tapping moved to Scotland at six years old. Tapping later attended Larbert High School in Stenhousemuir.

Early career

Tapping played at youth level for Hamilton Academical and Celtic. Tapping joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2009. Tapping initially playing for their under-18 team, making eight appearances. Tapping was rewarded with his first professional contract in June 2010, and was promoted to the Premier Reserve League squad making twenty seven appearances during the subsequent season at that level.

Heart of Midlothian including loan to Alloa Athletic

On 31 August 2011, Tapping joined Hearts on a two-year contract, with the option for a further year, initially joining up with the club's Under-19 squad. Prior to signing, Tapping had appeared as a trialist for the club during the Keyline Challenge Cup Tournament in Oban earlier on that year.

In November 2012, Tapping joined Alloa Athletic on a one-month loan deal to gain first-team experience. Tapping made his senior football first team debut on 17 November 2012 as a 67th-minute substitute in a home league match versus Brechin City. The Wasps were keen to extend his loan deal but he returned to Hearts after making only four appearances.

Tapping made his Hearts first team debut on 19 January 2013 as a 71st-minute substitute for Dylan McGowan at Celtic Park in a Scottish Premier League 4-1 defeat versus Celtic. Tapping made his first start the following week in their Scottish League Cup Semi final win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Tapping was released by Hearts in 2014.

Brechin City

He then spent an injury-affected season with Brechin City. He played eight competitive first team matches.

Queen of the South

Tapping signed for Queen of the South in July 2015. He was on the sidelines injured for seven months of the 2015-16 season and made 13 competitive first team appearances. He was then out injured for eight months from early in the 2016-17 season and made only eight competitive first team appearances that season.

International career

Tapping was called up to the Scotland under-19 team and made his debut on 10 May 2011, against Denmark.

Tapping made his debut for the Scotland under-21s on 6 February 2013 against Greece.
