Academics

It offers undergraduate programmes in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Printing Technology.

The departments and centres of the Institute are responsible for the academic activities which include Teaching, Research and Industrial Counsultancy.The courses of study are organized on semester programs and each semester provides for a minimumof seventy instructional days. The medium of instruction is English. Students are evaluated on a continuous basis throughout thesemester. Evaluation is done by the faculty, a consequence of the autonomous status granted to the Institute. Research work is evaluated on the basis of the review thesis by peer examiners both from within the country and abroad. Ordinances in respect of the academic programof study are prepared by the senate, the highest academic body within the Institute. The rigors of academic study at each level are balanced with a number of other related activitieswhich include co-curricular activities. Special lectures on varied topic of academic relevance are held under the Extra Mural Lecture series.A number of conferences, symposia and workshops are organized by the faculty which attract participation from scholars all over the world.

Life at CUIET

Life in IET is one of the most valuable experiences that one goes through. it is the turning point in a person’s life. While the first day in is, with no doubt, the most eagerly anticipated, the rest of the days are equally enjoyable. IET life is full of all sorts of activities. You will get an exposure to a range of fields such as drama, theatre, music, choreography and photography. IET life is full of fun. Students are unanimous over the fact that in college you create friends for life. Memories that last a lifetime. Friends make each instant of college life valuable. Be it the chat sessions in the canteen, sharing dreams and despair or even attending classes, we are all in it together. Also, you get to meet friends from crosswise the IET. Students share a common platform and further exchange their opinions, behavior and culture. However, as a fresher, you should be cautious about a little things. Even though you are usually part of a group, you have to maintain your uniqueness and never give in to peer stress. You should never be a room potato and shy away from seniors or treat college fests as free holidays or preparatory leave. Freshers should make it a point to network with people and participate in as many college and extra co-curricular activities as you can. Remember. In IET, you will meet lots of people. There will be clubs, teams, parties, volunteer activities, lectures, movies, concerts, etc. You will probably have more job than you have ever had, but you will also have free time. Also, college experience alters and redefines your perception of life.You lose your high school pretentiousness and realise that in the better picture.IET also helps you to shed inhibitions and strike conversations with random people on random topics, in short it enhances a student’s communication skills. When you join IET, it is quite normal to feel nervous, uncertain and lacks basic communication skills. But all that will change. IET life also exposes students to a range of career opportunities that lie ahead. It is in IET that you create gaining experience through various internships and jobs and gain valuable insight into the way the professional environment works. This also enables you to be a part of a broader network.

Diksha fest

Being one among the biggest technical and cultural fest witnessed by South India, ‘Diskha’ is the result of painstaking efforts taken by the college union that starts even months before the curtain raiser.Better to say, almost a year long of efforts are taken by the collegeunion to organize a pitch perfect event like ‘Diksha’. Blessed with the participation of the leading colleges across the nation like IITBombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, NIT Calicut, the audience witness a variety of entertaining as well as enlightening programs in IET Robot Festivals, Auto Expos are some among them. Launchedunder the partnerships of various audible brands from all walks of life like Sun Groups, Kairali entertainment, Mathrboomi groups, Ford Automobiles etc., Diksha also offers informative pods from eminent IIT Alumnus and other technical organizations. The 4 day event is bounded with various cultural items throughoutwhere students from various colleges takes part and garners prize and praise. The event was also blessed with the presence ofveterans from the field of arts in the yesteryear like Stphen Devasi, Madhu Ramakrishnan etc.

Soccer Fiesta

Curriculum is never complete without the presence of physical education and ‘Soccer Fiesta’ is an earnest effort made by CollegeUnion to introduce the world of sports to the students. Initially planned as an inter college football fest across the colleges of Malabar, the event got surprising attention and wide publicity even before the launch. The debut itself witnessed the active participation of various colleges across the state. Last year, the event was blessed with a total of 27 teams from all districts of Kerala including from leading colleges like GEC Thrissur,CET Trivandrum,TKM & GEC Kannur. For the past two years, AWH engineering college,Kozhikode are winning the champions trophy. Hosted in the presence of eminent personalities and celebrities from the arena of sports, the event receives the partnership of leading sports brands like Nike, Reebok etc. Like other events launched by IET College Union, the prime and the ultimate aim ofSoccer Fiesta remains the same ‘Boot up the personality and managing skills of IETians,Strengthen the bond between the students and above all, opening a larger world of experience beyond the boundaries of the college!!
