Club Sportif Constantinois (Arabic: النادي الرياضي القسنطيني), known as CS Constantine or CSC for short, is the oldest Algerian football club. It was founded in 1898 in Constantine. Their home stadium is Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui. The club currently plays in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, the top tier of Algerian football.

History

The club was founded under the name of IKBAL Emancipation from 1898 to 1909 but was closed by the French authority. It reappeared under the name of Étoile Club Musulman Constantinois from 1916 to 1918 and was closed for the 2nd time by the repression of the colonialism. Finally it reappeared under the name of Club Sportif Constantinois since June 26, 1926, not closed this time because the Europeans were members and players in the Club. The club was also named Chabab Mécanique de Constantine from 1977 to 1987.
Colours and badge

There was three names but same goal same and value (Popular,Islamic) and same colours Green (Hope) and black (Grief) 'the Hope in a Grief' (L'esperance en Deuil).

Stadium

CS Constantine's home stadium is Mohamed Hamlaoui known as Stade Chahid Hamlaoui which has been their home since its opening in 1976. The previous name of the stadium was Stade 17 Juin, the change was made in memory of Hamlaoui's death, a freedom fighter that died during the Algerian War. It can currently hold up to 40,000 people. The stadium has been through some renovation in the last few years. In 2007 natural grass was imported from the Netherlands.
