C.L. Jos is an Indian author and playwright who is known for his contributions to the Malayali culture, Kerala theatre and social education. He is featured in the book Who’s who of Indian Writers and in The Encyclopedia of Indian Literature, Volume 2. He is also referred to as a Playwright in the Handbook of Twentieth-Century Literatures of India. C.L. Jos is the former Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi chairman. He is listed as one of the personalities that impacted Theatre Companies in Kerala. C.L. Jos is occasionally mentioned by The Hindu newspaper, The Times of India and other media.

Early life
Born on April 4, 1932 in Thrissur, India, C.L. Jos had his primary education in Government School, Pudukad (Thrissur District) and in St.Mary’s Lourdes Church School, Thrissur. He later attended St. Thomas College High School, Thrissur, India.
Personal life
C.L. Jos married his wife Lizy in 1959. They have three children and six grand children.
Literary works
C.L. Jos authored various literary works including plays, fictions and dramas. He published 36 full-length plays, 75 one-act plays, one children’s play, one memoires of drama, two books of jokes, the autobiography Ormakalkku Urakkamilla and a study on play writing. His literary works are featured in the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, India, National Library of India and in other online book resources. His plays Manalkad, Jwalanam and Yugathrishna were prescribed by University of Kerala, University of Calicut and Mahatma Gandhi University (Kottayam) as textbooks for degree courses. His latest book Natakarachana Enthu, Engane? (study on play writing) was prescribed by University of Kerala and University of Calicut for post-graduate courses.
Some of his literary works include Shokapakshi, Vishachumbanam, Josinte Theranjedutha Ekankangal, Agnivalayam, Bhiti, among others. Other works of his include his own autobiography Ormakalkku Urakkamilla (published 2010), and Natakarachana Enthu, Engane? (study on play writing, published 2012). A number of C.L. Jos' one-act plays were translated to Hindi and English by National Book Trust of India and Kerala Sahithya Akademi including Pukunjakolli (Once a Thief), released in the 7th edition of Selected One-act Plays by Prof. K. M. Tharakan. His dramas Manalkad, Saparasmi and Bhoomyile Malaka were adopted for featured films, Manalkad and Agnivalayam were broadcast in the National Programme by Akashavani in all main regional languages of India.
In 1996, he visited the United States, Canada and Kuwait accepting invitations of drama and cultural organizations. C.L. Jos’ dramas convey ethical messages which inspire the audience to reflect on moral principles and human values. His plays have been staged in several towns and villages around Kerala, especially in Temple grounds, Church yards, college day celebrations, youth's clubs and anniversaries.
