The CF05 (Chinese: 长风冲锋枪; pinyin: Cháng Fēng chōng fēng qiāng) submachine gun developed by Chongqing Changfeng in early 1990s in response to China's demand for a new submachine gun design. It was developed by the same team who designed the QSZ-92 pistol, which is now the main pistol used by PLA and PAP. CF05 design is chambered for 9×19mm Parabellum ammunition, used internationally for most pistols and sub machine guns used by armed forces and law enforcement.

Development
Development of the CF-05 started from 1993 to 1994 with the design finalized in 2004. In March 2004, the prototype, named QC-9, went through a review before the design was finalized in May to August 2005. The CF-05 submachine gun features a blowback-operated system. It uses a 50-round helical magazine located at the top of the weapon. Early prototypes had a secondary feed option, with a pistol magazine inserted into the pistol grip. When running dry of bullets from primary magazine, the shooter could switch to the secondary magazine to sustain firing. CF-05 submachine gun is fitted with open sights, and has a mounting point rail for optics situated to the rear of the sight block. Threads in the barrel allow the weapon to attach a silencer. The shoulder stock is retractable, and is made from polymer material. Upon testing, the secondary feed option was abandoned due to inconvenience for field operations and the development team made several improvement to improve its ergonomic handling. At last, the production model for Chinese CTU and SFU was named CS/LR6.
