Clyde Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D. is an American neurosurgeon and a pioneer in pain medicine. He is credited with the invention of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator, spinal cord stimulator, and radiofrequency ablation for back pain arising from facet arthropathy.

Dr. Shealy graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his training at Duke University Medical Center, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
