Byablue is an album on the Impulse label by jazz pianist Keith Jarrett's 'American Quartet'. Originally released in 1977, it features performances by Jarrett, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian.

Contents

For what would be the quartet's final recording sessions, Jarrett requested that the other band members contribute compositions. Byablue consisted primarily of Paul Motian's pieces, while Bop-Be included Redman and Haden's contributions.

Reception

The Allmusic review by Richard S. Ginell awarded the album 4 stars stating "Highly recommended on LP, since the Middle Eastern tracks were deleted from the CD reissue". This referred to the CD Silence released in the early 90's. Later in the 90's, the full album was included in the CD box set Mysteries: The Impulse Years 1975-1976.
