Burton A. Scott (February 16, 1935 – April 2, 2007) was Chief Judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.

Biography

Scott was born in Hazel Green, Wisconsin on February 16, 1935. He attended high school in Randolph, Wisconsin and served in the United States Army before graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin Law School. In 1957, he married Evelyn C. Magnuson. They had two children. He died in on April 2, 2007 at his home in Somers, Wisconsin.

After working with a private practice, Scott became a counsel to Kenosha County, Wisconsin before serving City Attorney of Kenosha, Wisconsin from 1965 to 1970, District Attorney of Kenosha County from 1971 to 1972 and a Kenosha County Judge from 1972 to 1978. He became a Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge in 1978 and remained in that position until joining the Court of Appeals in 1980. He served as Chief Judge from 1983 to 1989 before retiring from his judicial career in 1991. Later, he joined the faculty of the University of Nevada, Reno.
