Burn (Hamilton Song)

"Burn" is the fifteenth song from Act Two of the musical Hamilton, sung by the character Eliza Hamilton. The musical premiered on Broadway in August 2015.

The song is a ballad sung by Eliza Hamilton upon discovering her husband Alexander's extramarital affair from reading about it in pamphlets published by him. Alexander Hamilton's aim was to publicly admit shame after committing adultery and clear his conscience. The associated publicity, however, leaves Eliza distraught and she goes on to "burn" multiple letters at which point the ballad begins.

The original Broadway cast recording of the song was sung by Phillipa Soo and appears on the second disc of the album Hamilton.
