Bunbury Senior High School is a comprehensive public high school located in Bunbury, a regional centre 175 kilometres (109 mi) south of Perth, Western Australia.

History

The school was established in 1923 and by 2009 had an enrolment of 917 students between Year 8 and Year 12, 28 (3%) of whom were Aboriginal.

The school is the fourth oldest in the state and many of the buildings are heritage listed. They were designed in a Georgian Revival style by the Principal Architect of Western Australia, William Hardwick. The school is situated on Boulters Heights, one of the highest points of the city between the Indian Ocean and the CBD.

The school won the champion school award in the Country Week carnival in 2009 for the first time since the school started competing in 1928. The school team was composed of 135 students in twelve teams competing in most sports.

The school won the Kim Hughes shield for the secondary school champion cricket team in Western Australia in 2009.

Enrolments at the school have been in decline over the past few years with 921 students in 2007, 997 in 2008, 1021 in 2009, 841 in 2010, 766 in 2011 and 768 in 2012.

In 2012 there was a terrible storm and Bunbury Senior High School was severely damaged. With The help from local schools majority of the students were allocated to other schools for over two weeks. The school is still under construction to save its roof and 10 classrooms.

The school was ranked as the top regional school in Western Australia in 2012 at position 32 in the top 50 that for students with a WACE score of 75 or more.

The school won the champion school at Country Week in 2012 beating the 2011 champions, Albany Senior High School who came second and there cross town rivals Australind Senior High School who came third. In 2013 the school won the champion school for the second time in a row.
