Bulelani Mabhayi was born in South Africa in 1974. Mabhayi’s father died when he was 12 years old and his mother when he was 13.

From May 2007 to August 11, 2012, Mabhayi killed ten women and nine children in the rural village of Tholeni, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Another woman from a separate village was also killed. He broke into homes at night that had no men present. Mahbayi would then rape some of the victims and hack them to death with an axe or panga.
