Biography

Bulelani Mabhayi was born in South Africa in 1974. Mabhayi’s father died when he was 12 years old and his mother when he was 13.
From May 2007 to August 11, 2012, Mabhayi killed ten women and nine children in the rural village of Tholeni, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Another woman from a separate village was also killed. He broke into homes at night that had no men present. Mahbayi would then rape some of the victims and hack them to death with an axe or panga. The youngest victim was 14-months-old and the oldest was 79.

On May 17, 2010, Mabhayi and other local males over 16 had their DNA and fingerprints sampled at a local church. Mabhayi's fingerprints could not be taken because he had no identification. Mahbayi was caught after he left his shoe at the crime scene of a murder on August 11, 2012.
Mabhayi was convicted of twenty counts of murder, six of rape, and ten of breaking and entering. He was sentenced to 25 life sentences on September 3, 2013.
