Alumni

Its alumni includes many rugby stars who have gone on to be highly successful, such as Neil Jenkins MBE, Michael Owen, and Gethin Jenkins, who have all represented the British and Irish Lions, and Paul John, Andrew Lamerton, Lloyd Peart and Ellis Jenkins who have played for Wales. Bryn Celynnog can also boast badminton player Kelly Morgan and Paralympic swimmer David Roberts CBE, as former pupils. Kelly Morgan won the ladies' singles badminton gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and also appeared at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

David Roberts CBE, is a Welsh paralympic swimmer who won four gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, four gold medals at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens and three gold medals at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney. He also won a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and holds numerous World Records.

Houses

The school has four houses that are named after mythical creatures:

  • Chimera (represented by the colour blue)
  • Griffin (represented by the colour red)
  • Phoenix (represented by the colour yellow)
  • Wyvern (represented by the colour green)
  • These houses will frequently compete against each other in events such as the Eisteddfod and sports day.

    Bryn This Week

    "Bryn This Week" is Bryn Celynnog's weekly newsletter, which is masterminded by staff members Kate Bryant and Jeremy Stock. Newsletters are put onto the school website every Friday.
