Born and raised in Población José María Caro, Santiago, Carrasco joined the youth ranks of the professional team Audax Italiano when he was 10 years old in 2001.

Carrasco made his Audax debut in Primera División aged 18, against Huachipato on 18 September 2009 in a 2–2 draw at Estadio Municipal de Concepción. In the same year, he only played three games during the tournament. His first goals in the club were scored in a twice in the 3–1 victory over Universidad de Concepción at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida for the Primera A 2010 tournament. In the same game, he was elected the man of the match according to the CDF commentators. He was out on a loan in Dinamo Zagreb in 2012.

International career

In January 2011, he was nominated by Cesar Vaccia for play the 2011 South American Youth Championship in Peru with the Chilean national youth team. Carrasco debuted as a starter for the national youth team against Peru in a 2–0 victory at Estadio Monumental Virgen de Chapi. The commentators of Canal 13 highlighted the participation of Carrasco during the match. In the final group of the championship, Carrasco was a key player in the team, being one of the goalscorers of Chile along with Luis Felipe Gallegos.

He gained notoriety for an incident in the South American Under-20s World Cup qualification match against Ecuador in which he grabbed Edson Montaño's arm and hit himself in the face with it in an attempt to gain a freekick with Ecuador leading 1–0. The video of that became viral on the internet. The incident, which resulted in a free kick deep on his side's end of the field and no cards issued, didn't have any major role in the match and Ecuador held on to win the match 1–0.
