Brooks H. Pate is Professor of chemistry at the University of Virginia.

He graduated from University of Virginia with a B.S. in 1987, and from Princeton University with a Ph.D. in 1992. He was a NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at NIST, from 1992 to 1993. He heads the Pate Research Group. He is an amateur historian of clocks.
