  • Marcus Stroud, class of 1996, won a state title at Brooks County High School in 1994 and went on to a successful career at the University of Georgia and in the NFL; his senior year, he was a 6'6" 266-pound defensive end and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in a story about National Signing Day; gave the University of Florida a verbal commitment but switched to become a Georgia Bulldog after Georgia's coach, Ray Goff, was fired in November 1995 and the new coach, Jim Donnan recruited him
