Bronx school for law government and justice


The Bronx School for Law Government and Justice is a high school in the Bronx, New York City. The school was founded in September 1997 and covers grades 6-12. It has a lot of programs not offered in area high schools such as law-based mathematics and criminal procedure courses. The schools name is usually shortened to LGJ by teachers and students, and the school's motto is "Champions of the Charge".

Athletics

For a Small school it fields a
Boys Baseball, Basketball and Bowling
Girls Softball and Volleyball

Despite not winning any championships the school has made the playoffs several times. The school lacks a personal baseball and softball field. The school's colors are blue and white and its mascot is the Jaguar.

Academics

LGJ is best known for its mock trial and debate teams which has won statewide and nationwide championships respectively.

The debate team competes city wide and is open to all high school and middle school students. The debate team is committed and travels to outer state tournaments on a daily basis. The school's mock trial team has won the New York State competition and made it to the city finals and more.

Classes

The school has a variety of electives to choose from that revolve around the school's law theme. Students can take Advanced Placement courses which include chemistry, Spanish and Government. The majority of the high school classes end with a New York State Regents Exam at the end of the year or semester.

Many of the enrolled middle school students take the option to go to LGJ High School. Many students have taken and passed the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test and have gone to The Bronx High School of Science and Brooklyn Technical High School.
