The British International College of Cairo (BICC) is a pre-school, primary school and secondary school based in 5th District in New Cairo, Egypt.

Contents

The BICC campus accommodates 717 students from K- year 12 IGCSE. Built on a 7,000 square metre site, the school has modern facilities with 42 classrooms, 8 labs and 8 activity classes. The school has a student-to-teacher ratio of 11:1.

The school provides, “A range of academic, cultural, and athletic activities in which all students can play a part and enjoy, and which we hope will provide a multitude of opportunities for students to grow, learn and achieve in an inspirational and encouraging environment.”

Campuses

The BICC Campus includes sports fields built on a 4,000 square meter area. The college has a multi-purpose sports hall, squash courts, volleyball and football facilities as well as a state-of-the-art Olympic swimming pool.

Curriculum

BICC is fully accredited to provide education for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Junior Education (Y1-6), and it follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Senior Education (Y7-11) offers a wide range of academic subjects as well as extra-curricular activities that allow students to be fully prepared to take their IGCSE examinations in Year 11. In the sixth form, students have the option of taking A-level courses or achieving extensive subject knowledge in their International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. The IB Diploma programme is an advanced two-year educational programme for students aged 16–19. It provides students with an internationally-recognised qualification for entry into higher education. The school governance works diligently under the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization).

Schools

The Pre-Prep: Early Years School is for boys and girls of 3 to 5 years of age. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on phonic and number awareness and is achieved through specialist teaching in the areas of PE, Drama and Music.

The Primary School is for Year 1 and 2 students aged from 5 to 7 years of age. Here they will improve their spelling, reading, writing and handwriting, times tables and number bonds. The students are introduced to instrumental music through piano or violin, and there are many games, gymnastics and athletics events. The Primary School also has its own garden for kids to learn how to plant vegetables, not to mention picnic tables to give a real social aspect to the school. The primary school also offers cookery, karate, swimming and chess classes.

The Secondary School is for Years 5 to 8, which offers excellent facilities to enable sport and music development for its students, as well as drama activities.

Multi-purpose theatre

The BICC has a multi-purpose theatre for dramatic performances and music festivals. It has the latest lighting and sound technology to allow the students to perform in the best space possible.
