Dr. Bridget A. Taylor is Co-founder and Executive Director of Alpine Learning Group and is Senior Clinical Advisor for Rethink. Dr. Taylor has specialized in the education and treatment of children with autism for the past twenty-five years. She holds a Doctorate of Psychology from Rutgers University, and received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Columbia University. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Psychologist. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and serves on the editorial board of Behavioral Interventions. She is a member of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and serves on the Autism Advisory Group for the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies. Dr. Taylor also serves on the Scientific and Community Advisory Board for SPARK a new program at the Simon’s Foundation Autism Research Initiative. Dr. Taylor is active in the autism research community and has published numerous articles and book chapters on effective interventions for autism. She is a national and international presenter and serves in an advisory capacity for autism education and treatment programs both locally and abroad. She has been influential in the development of autism treatment centers both locally and in Italy, India, Canada, France, Australia and Kosovo. Dr. Taylor’s current research interests are in identifying innovative procedures to increase the observational learning repertoires of children with autism.

Education

Dr. Taylor holds a Doctorate of Psychology from Rutgers University, and received her master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Columbia University. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Psychologist.

Dr. Taylor is a research and practitioner of Applied Behavior Analysis, an empirically-validated methodology which is used to teach individuals with autism. As a student at Columbia University, Taylor used ABA therapy in the treatment of autistic children, which is notably documented in the 1994 book Let Me Hear Your Voice.

Alpine Learning Group

Alpine Learning Group is a non-profit education and treatment program specialized in serving individuals with autism. It is a highly regarded education and treatment center for children with autism. Dr. Taylor serves as Executive Director.

Alpine Learning Group was co-founded by Dr. Taylor in 1989 along with several professionals and a group of parents with children with autism who were unable to acquire appropriate services for their children. The founders are: Fred Bunker, Debra Gladstone, Mark Gladstone, Linda S. Meyer, Bridget A. Taylor. Alpine Learning Group opened the doors to its first four students in 1989. In 2012 the enrollment is 29 students with autism ranging in age from 3 to 21. Alpine Learning Group offers services to additional families and students through its Outreach and Adult Programs.

Throughout Alpine Learning Group’s growth, the organization’s mission has remained constant: to provide learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families comprehensive, scientifically-validated educational and behavioral services designed to foster individual growth and personal achievement.

In 2005, Ilene Lainer and Laura Slatkin obtained approval to open a charter school in Manhattan for children with autism. The New York Center for Autism Charter School is the first public school in NYC which exclusively serves the needs of children with autism. The Alpine Learning Group is the educational model for the charter school as well as other schools in the tri-state area.

Research and advisory activities

Dr. Taylor is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA), a scientific journal dedicated towards the study of Applied Behavior Analysis and serves on the editorial board of Behavioral Interventions.

Dr. Taylor is active in the autism research community and has published numerous articles and book chapters on effective interventions for autism. She is a regular presenter at national and international conferences and serves in an advisory capacity for autism education and treatment programs both locally and abroad.

Dr. Taylor’s current research interests are in identifying innovative procedures to increase the observational learning repertoires of children with autism.

Advisory boards

Dr. Taylor serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor for Rethink, a groundbreaking online autism treatment platform for parents and professionals. She is a member of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and a Board Member of the Association for Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT). She serves on the Autism Advisory Group for the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies and the Professional Advisory Board for the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts.
