Brian Despain has worked as a graphic designer, 3D modeler, photo-retoucher, and illustrator. He spent a ten-year span in the video game industry, working a majority of those years for Snowblind Studios in Seattle, Washington where he helped ship multiple titles and worked on many more unannounced projects. As of October,1999 Brian left a lucrative career in video games to pursue his own projects, working and writing full-time from his home studio. Though his work is often lumped in the underground movement of Pop Surrealism he describes himself as more a student of the Symbolist movement. As well as painting for galleries and private collectors, Brian also does occasional professional illustration work. His art appears on multiple young-adult fiction book covers, including, "Arthur and the Minimoys", written by French film mogul Luc Besson and "The Clockwork Three" by Matthew J. Kirby. Brian is also known for his work on the Magic: The Gathering card game. and his Dungeons & Dragons work includes, among other titles, the 3.5 edition Monster Manual and Lost Empires of Faerûn. He has contributed artwork used in cards for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
