Brett Thomas (born 24 August 1977) is an Australian ice hockey player who played for the Sydney Ice Dogs in the Australian Ice Hockey League between 2004 and 2011 and is a former member of the Australian national ice hockey team.

Playing career

Thomas first played ice hockey in 2004 for the Sydney Ice Dogs of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). During the 2005 AIHL season Thomas scored a personal best in points finishing with 12 goals and 16 assists over 22 games. Following the end of the 2008 AIHL season Thomas retired from ice hockey, having played five seasons for the Ice Dogs. In 2011 Thomas returned to ice hockey following his retirement two years ago and rejoined the Ice Dogs.

Thomas was first called up to represent Australia in 2007 where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2007 IIHF World Championship Division II Group B tournament being held in Seoul, Korea. Australia finished second in the tournament after losing only one game against the host nation. In 2011 Thomas represented Australia for the third time during the 2011 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Australia won the tournament after winning all of their four games and finishing first in the group standings.

Personal life

Thomas was born on 24 August 1977 in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. He first played ice hockey at the age of six and currently lives in Curl Curl, New South Wales, Australia.
