Brent Armitage (born 1965) is an American film actor, screenwriter, producer, and director who got his start as an actor. Armitage moved behind the camera on such projects as Swing Shift and Miami Blues. He then launched his writing career with his adaptation of the Gregory MacDonald novel Scutter. Armitage then adapted the Ranulph Fiennes novel The Feather Men. Other screenplay credits include In The Deep and Sideswipe. He is most well known as the producer of Grosse Pointe Blank and producer of The Big Bounce.

Early life

Armitage was born in Los Angeles, California to film director George Armitage and Sharon Armitage. His family is originally from Beverly Hills, California and Boston, Massachusetts. He is of English, French and Irish descent. Armitage grew up in Los Angeles, California. He began acting at the age of six and spent his high school years at University High School in Los Angeles, California. He co-founded a small theater company The Glenn and as a junior, Armitage finished third in the State of California Amateur Fencing Championships. Armitage attended UCLA, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Business.

Career

Armitage began his acting career at the age of six and has appeared in several films from Directors Roger Corman, Jonathan Demme and his father George Armitage. After graduating from UCLA Armitage moved behind the camera on such projects as Swing Shift and Miami Blues. He then launched his writing career with his adaptation of the Gregory MacDonald novel Scutter. Armitage then adapted the Ranulph Fiennes novel The Feather Men. In 2000 Armitage founded the screenwriting development website StudioNotes. The site quickly became a gateway for previously undiscovered talent to develop material and directly access the studio system. StudioNotes employes some fifty development executives from throughout the industry. Armitage sold his interest in the company in 2003.
