Brandrup Township was named for Andrew Brandrup, an early settler and afterward county official.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 54.2 square miles (140 km2); 54.2 square miles (140 km2) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) of it (0.04%) is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 172 people, 55 households, and 49 families residing in the township. The population density was 3.2 people per square mile (1.2/km²). There were 61 housing units at an average density of 1.1/sq mi (0.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.42% White, and 0.58% from two or more races.
There were 55 households out of which 47.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 83.6% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 10.9% were non-families. 5.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.13 and the average family size was 3.31.
In the township the population was spread out with 34.3% under the age of 18, 2.3% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
