The current Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) was built in the 1936. It replaced a Victorian edifice in the city centre. Today it is part of the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As well as the BRI the trust also incorporates St. Luke's Hospital in Little Horton.
Over the years the Trust has subsumed a number of smaller hospitals; these include Woodlands Orthopaedic Hospital, Northern View and Bierley Hall.
The hospital provides a full range of acute and non-acute services for the people of Bradford and its hinterland.
Over dozens of years, the hospital has expanded its space by building a number of units for the hospital, and is particularly large looking at the scale of the hospital 20 years ago.
The ENT Department at BRI, has seen many changes and new buildings within the site of BRI, there is the Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service or YCIS as it's known, this offers services and support for young children and adults that have a Cochlear Implants of any model or type.[1]
Bradford Royal Infirmary is also ranked as the top 10 hospitals in West Yorkshire.
