Her first playback was for Assamese album Ki Rong Dila Dwipen Barua. In 1998, she sang for Assamese feature film Gun Gun Gane Gane. In 2002, she sang playback for Emaan Morom Kiyo Lage and Jibon Trishna, Dhou (2013), Jilmil Junak, Face and Morichika. Kalita sang for Bengali feature film Oi Dur Sagore and Kannada remake Satya in Love She also performed on various music projects. She sang thousands of songs for albums and TV Serials in various languages.

She performed on Dy Medlay for DY365 channel.She was honoured by Pride East Entertainment Rang Channel. She served as a judge on Jhankkar, The Game of Music and Tumi ARu Moi.

Achievements

She appeared in Sangeet Chayanika (classical vocal) and achieved Sangeet Ratna from Sarbabharatiiya Sangeet and Sanskriti Parishad of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 1994-95.

She recorded Fusion Album with Leslie Lewis (MTV Cokes Studio).

She performed with Ismail Darbar in the 45th International Trade Fare 2008.

She performed with Shantanu (SHAAN) Mukherjee.

She recorded a Bihu album with Dada Saheb Falke Awardee, Assam Ratna Padma and Bhupen Hazarika.

She sang for three of the most popular and highest selling albums and videos Morom Jaan, Chalgori and Junbai. Chalgori set a record selling 1 cores in Northeast, East Bengal and Uttarakhand.

She became the Brand Ambassador for Assam traffic police (2008-2009) and New Era Food and Beverages.

In 2014 she completed 5000 songs, a record in Assam and the north-east.

Every year during Bihu Festival (14–20 April June) she performs across Assam. Every year she covers 18 Districts.

She also appeared at Delhi-University, Mumbai Assam Bhavan, Lucknow, Banglore Assam Bhavan, Ravindra Natya Mandir Kolkata, Canada, Dubai, Doha, Qatar, Kuwait and other countries.
