Description

Bonnemaisonia hamifera Bonnemaisonia hamifera

This algal species is marine which exists in two phases. One, the gametangial phase, is erect and grows to a length of 20 cm. The Tetrasporangial phase forms a fine and relatively short uniseriate filament. The life history has not been fully confirmed.

Distribution

The first record in Northern Ireland was in 1972 from Sandeel Bay.
